Food Trip: Pegi Waffle

Pegi Waffle’s is a perfect snack or breakfast treat. It can be eaten anytime of the day. I love their Liege Waffle or Classic Sugar Waffle (P35.00). They also have Stroop Waffles but i prefer the ones sold in Star Bucks.

They have expanded and now they have a Cafe. Before it was just a take out booth. They also sell Ravioli and other gourmet pasta dishes.

Pegi Waffle is located along P Guevarra Street in San Juan. Near the Yellow Ongpauco Bldg at the corner of Wilson street.

Food Trip: Pho Hoa

Our Order:
Jasmine Tea Pot P56.00
Chien Mut Ot (Fried Squid with Chili and Green Onion) P260.00
Dau Dua Xao Tom Tep (String Beans with Ground Pork and Shrimps) P240
Shrimp Paste Rice P65

We always enjoy eating at Pho Hoa. We have always been satisfied with their food and it shows in the empty bowls and plates after our meal.

I really love their string beans with pork and shrimp. The combination of the beans plus pork and shrimp plus their sauce is just perfect. The beans are also perfect to the bite soft but still crunchy to the bite.

I also love the Fried Squid with Chili and Green Onion. The combination of the green onion with ginger and chili added just adds that kick to the squid which makes it just perfect.

The shrimp paste rice is equally delicious too. Its flavor is not overpowering. It is just right. The perfect accompaniment to the beans and squid.

Min Sok Korean Restaurant (Bocobo Street, Makati)

Min Sok is a Korean Restaurant hidden in Jacobo Street in Makati. We have eaten here countless of times.

The owner is a very gracious Korean lady who will greet you when she sees you. She will also open the door for you.

We usually order their BBQ dishes. If you buy 2 BBQ dishes it comes with free soup.

They also serve a variety of appetizers. I really love their Kimchi but i try not to eat too much as it makes me want to visit the Toilet.

We also order regularly the seafood pancake which is just delicious.

There has never been a time that we were disappointed with the food at Min Sok.

Road Trip: Paranaque and Las Pinas

August 27 is a Holiday and what better time to go on a Visita Iglesia. Our destination for the Day, the Churches of Paranaque and Las Pinas.

We started with the La Huerta Chapel or the San Nicholas Chapel, located in San Nicholas Street, La Huerta. The Chapel is Old, and it has an inscription 1776 (when the Chapel was built) Unfortunately it was closed.

After the La Huerta Chapel we went to the San Dionisio Chapel located in El Filibustermo Street in San Dionisio. The Chapel of San Dionisio is a Charming Old Chapel that boasts of a headless statue of San Dionisio. The altar is impressive too. The caretaker (a very nice lady) of the Chapel was inside too and even asked me if i wanted to have the lights opened.

Next was the Saint Joseph Church, the home of the famous Bamboo Organ. We availed of the tour (P100 each) since you will not be able to see the organ up close if you will not get the tour. We were first toured in their museum which boasted of some antiques and old pictures of the church. After the museum tour we were led to a passageway guarded by Antique Wooden Statues of Saint Peter and Saint Paul that led us to the famed Bamboo Organ.

Our last stop was the Paranaque Cathedral. I was in luck as it was open. The Cathedral is said to be one of the oldest in the country.

Food Trip: Maty’s (Dongalo, Paranaque)

Maty’s has the enviable distinction of being included in the Top 10 Best Tapsilog by Spot.Ph, and for this we decided to try it out.

Maty’s is a very simple looking Tapsilogan Place. It is just like any other Eatery or Canteen you can find. In Dongalo we were able to find 3 Maty’s!! The one we ended up was the one with available parking.

We ordered the Tapsilog (P65) and BBQ (P15). Our ordered arrived after something like 5 minutes more or less. The fried rice arrived first, followed by the tapa and finally the egg. The Tapa was okay, it was not as tasty like what the write up said but nonetheless it was Okay. But the main selling point is probably its price, affordable and an okay taste is hard to resist for us. I did not get to eat the BBQ anymore but when i got home i ate it and it was delicious.

Maty’s has 3 branches (this is what i saw but there are probably more) along Quirino Avenue, Dongalo, Paranaque. All the 3 are walking distance from each other with 2 branches facing each other.

LZM Restaurant

Boneless Bangus: Super Big and Delicious. This bangs was probably good for 5 Persons. we were just able to finish half of it.

20120820-212308.jpg

Calamares: There was too much cover ups. They should lessen the Cover Ups and also lower the price as well.

20120820-212316.jpg

Bulalo: Compared to some of the Bulalo being sold in Tagaytay. Lzm’s Bulalo is better and bigger. the Beef was really tender that it was falling off the bone. There was a lot of beef too.
