Aling Taleng’s Halo-Halo (Pagsanjan, Laguna)

Located along the Pagsanjan-Cavinte Road. If coming from Los Banos, turn right after the Municipal Hall. Aling Taleng’s is just after the Bridge. If coming from Rizal, just go straight.

The last time i had a glass of Aling Taleng’s Halo Halo was probably 2 years ago. I can still not forget how delicious it was. After our lunch at Emin & Mila’s it was time for dessert and what better place to have it than at Aling Taleng’s.

We ordered their Halo-Halo (P85.00). After a few minutes our glasses of Shaved Ice topped with Kundol arrived. The Halo Halo was hard to mix, i tried my best to prevent more ice to fall off. After mixing the Halo Halo, i digged in and savored the sweet and cold feeling. I was a bit disappointed though with the Kundol. I remember it as having a bit of crunch. The kundol served was a bit mushy.

I still enjoyed Aling Taleng’s Halo Halo despite the disappointing Kundol (Winter Melon). There will be another time and hopefully next time will be better, still i consider Aling Taleng’s as One of the Best Halo Halo in the Country.

Beef Misono and Potato Balls of Tokyo-Tokyo

Tokyo-Tokyo’s Beef Misono and Potato Balls has always been my favorite food at Tokyo-Tokyo. When i was sick with a terrible flu last year, i ordered beef misono and potato balls.

I never get tired of the beef misono. Tender strips of beef dipped in soysauce then buttered vegetables on the side then partnered with their potato balls dipped in mayonnaise with egg bits.

Cebu’s Finest Mango Caramel by Audrey’s Bakeshop: Sinfully Delicious

Salted Caramel seems to be the “In” thing now and dried mangoes have joined in also.

I bought a box of Cebu’s Finest Mango Caramel at Island’s Souvenirs during my Cebu Trip and just recently got to taste it. I regret not having bought more.

The Box looks deceiving as the box is quite big and when you open it you will find just a few wrapped pieces of the mango caramel.

The Mango Caramel is sinfully delicious! Every bite is heavenly. The mangoes they used are of the finest quality. The mango is not like other dried mangoes where there are threads.

Next time i go to Cebu, this will definitely be in my list of to Buy Pasalubong!!

Mango Caramel can be purchased at Island Souvenirs branches in Cebu. It is also sold at island’s souvenirs Naia 3 branches.

Nena Montenegro’s Sylvannas (Tojong Street , Cebu City)

While in Cebu i did a Google Search where to buy the best Sylvanna’s in Cebu. My search pointed me to a house in Tojong Street, Mrs U’s Sylvannas (just Next Door according to the Island Stays Website) and The Cebu Country Club Sylvannas. Since the last one was a Country Club and you have to be a member to enter i crossed that out of my list.

I asked EPC to bring me to Islands Stays along Archbishop Reyes Avenue. From there i walked to the Commercial Establishments just beside it. I looked for Mrs U’s Sylvannas but could not find it so i went back to the Car and told EPC to go straight on the Street where he was parked (the street was Tojong). The #20 TOJONG Street turned out to be just beside Island Stays. So i went down and pressed on the doorbell and after a minute a maid went out. I asked about the prices, she said P488 for the Big size and P388 for the small size. I got 2 of the Big Size since it was recommended.

Back at the hotel I placed the Sylvannas inside the Hotel Ref. But i took a piece first to see if it indeed was as good as they said. Honestly it was good but not Extraordinarily Good, not the same Level as Sans Rival of Dumaguete but Good enough. It is rather too sweet for my taste also.

I am confused though if Mrs U and Nena Montenegro are just one and the same. There is no other Sylvannas seller beside Island Stays beside #20 Tojong and in their website it clearly states Mrs U is located next door.

Nena Montenegro’s Sylvannas can bu purchased from the MLM Bakeshop, #20 Tojong Street, Cebu City. Beside Island Stays. P488 for the Big Size, P388 for the Small.

Balamban Liempo Cebu (Everywhere in Cebu)

Balamban Liempo Cebu is a Liempo Stand / chain found everywhere in Cebu. I got to taste this the first time in Talisay a few years back and it made me crave for it everytime we are in Cebu.

The stuffing found inside the liempo, i think are sampaloc leaves plus tanglad mixed in with some other ingredients. This gives the liempo that to crave for flavor. The skin too was just sinfully crispy. A whole liempo as of writing costs P185.00

R&M Choco Mangga

Yesterday, my friend Anita gave me 2 Boxes of R&M Choco Mangga (White Chocolate).

When i first tasted it yesterday evening i wasnt that impressed but when i had it this morning i got so addicted to it that i just had to control myself from eating more.

Anita said that this particular product is just for the Export Market so that it means it cannot be locally.

Food Trip: Alpenliebe Caramel and Cream Candy

I have a new favorite Candy! And its Alpenliebe Caramel and Cream Candy, priced at Just Php 20 for a pack (USD .50) for 50 pcs. I am just hooked that i got to finish 20-30 pcs in a day and the result.. sore throat. A better alternative to Werthers and the taste is almost the same but at a much much cheaper price.
