Where to Eat-Rizal

Congo Grille (SM Masinag, Antipolo)

Yesterday we stopped at SM Masinag to look for a place to eat. We ended up at Congo Grille.

I ordered the Congo Grill Sisig and Crispied Pinakbet.

Our orders arrived around 15 minutes more or less.

The Sisig was delicious, it was crunchy, tasty and tasted just right.

The Crispied Pinakbet on the other hand i did not really like. Though it did not taste bad, Pinakbet is better served in its Original Form. The crispied pinakbet was like vegetable tempura smothered in sauce.

The Menu of Congo Grill is quite extensive. They have a lot of other dishes that look good. Next time perhaps.

Food Trip: Park, Rest and Dine

Yesterday for lunch we tried a new place. The Park, Rest and Dine Restaurant in Baras, Rizal. This is located along Marcos Highway.

The Restaurant sits atop a hill. You will climb probably around 30 steps going to the restaurant. There are no railings so be careful when going up.

We were met by a lady (who i forgot to ask for her name) who looked like the cook but who actually is the owner. A very gracious and friendly lady who showed us to a table and gave us the menu.

We ordered their Inihaw na Bangus, brocolli with shiitake mushrooms and lumpiang shanghai.

Our order arrived after 20-30 minutes. The owner was the one herself who brought the food. The restaurant is a family run place, with only the owner’s sister to serve and occasionally a helper if there are a lot of diners.

The owner chatted with us and we learned that the land was in their family for 30 years now. The size was 24 hectares! And that she used to always treat friends there but that since no more money she opened her own restaurant.

Food Trip: Bulawan Restaurant (Pililla, Rizal)

Bulawan was rated Top 3 Pinaka Yummy in Rizal, a rating in my opinion a bit low so last Saturday (March 30, 2013) we payed a visit to our favorite Restaurant in Rizal.

When we arrived the parking was full of cars but still space was available and the inside was full of diners. The waiter who greeted us said that we had to wait but a table was made available immediately.

We ordered Chili Crab, Mixed Inihaw and Sinigang na Hipon plus Buko Juice.

Our order arrived in 20 minutes more or less, i thought it would take longer as there were so many people.

I first took a bite from the Chili Crab and my verdict, Heavenly! It even became better from the last time i had it!! It was so soft but crunchy that you can eat the shell!!

The mixed inihaw was good but it was bigger before, the vegetables were cooked just right, the hito was delicious but not so the Tilapia. still the price hasnt changed much.

The sinigang was mixed too. Small shrimps were used but they were FRESH.

Service as usual was Very Good. And after the very appetizing meal, it further made me ask why they were just #3 when the #1 had mediocre food?

Bulawan Floating Restaurant Pililla, Rizal

We just had lunch at my Favorite Restaurant of all time, at Bulawan Floating Restaurant in Pililla, Rizal.

We ordered Caldereta (My new Favorite Dish), Crispy Dalag and Sinigang na Kanduli sa Miso.

The Caldereta as usual was delicious! But this time it was tastier! Probably becaause of the extra Cheese I requested. The Crispy dalag was Crispy, the fish meat was tender. The Sinigang was okay too. A pitcher of Buko and 4 cups of rice finished our order. The service by Mike, as usual was Excellent! Our Bill totalled P708.00.

Mang Vic’s Bulalohan

This is a Bulalohan located along the Marikina-Infanta Road (Marcos Highway). This is at the Antipolo Part of the Highway, in Barangay Mayamot. Just Right After the Bridge.

This Bulalohan is very famous with Bikers. They have a Tarpaulin Inside which looked like it was given to them by a Biker Group. When we arrived for lunch yesterday, the place was packed! While the Bulalohan beside it had Zero Customers (Mang Vic’s Bulalohan is the Original here).

We ordered the Bulalo, Inihaw na Manok and Liempo. Their Bulalo does not have any Vegetables but the BEEF is served in generous portions! The beef is fresh and very tender, the broth is very tasty (BETTER than Bulalo’s in Tagaytay) and priced at just P65.00!! Who can go wrong with that Price, and compared with the Php 150-300 Price at Restaurants. The Inihaw na Manok and Liempo were a bit Cold but was good.

If you are looking for a Cheap and Delicious meal in Antipolo, or if you happen to go to Infanta, Tanay, Laguna via this Road, this is the best place to have a Meal in these Parts.

Late Lunch at Bulawan

Just came from Bulawan Restaurant. Food as usual was the best. This time we tried the beef kaldereta, it had a note beside it which said “subukan niyo” so we ordered it. We also ordered pritong dalag, chili garlic shrimp, inihaw na talong and a pitcher of buko juice to gulp all the food down. I was supposed to order the Lapu-Lapu with Leeks and Ginger but the Waiter advised us that it will take some time and that the LapuLapu was frozen. The beef kaldereta was a surprise, it was delicious! It even had Olives, something which you wont see usually in Kaldereta served in Restaurants. The added cheese to the kaldereta also added some kick. Yum Yum!
