Where to Eat-Negros

Bacolod 18th Street Pala Pala (Bacolod City)

The Food: I was a frequent visitor of Bacolod during the early part of 2000s and 18th Street Pala Pala was my favorite but things have changed. Their food quality has declined. There was nothing memorable about what we ate. The Monggo was undercooked, the kilawin was unforgettable too. Will definitely erase 18th Street Pala Pala from my list of where to eat in Bacolod.

The Service: Service at 18th Street Pala Pala is awful. We were already in the middle of our meal and our nobody even bothered to get our drinks. No Service water was served also. We called the waiter and ask for their drinks, we got fresh buko. And the Buko got served several minutes later. Definitely poor service.

“18th Street Pala Pala used to serve good food partnered with great service but that has changed and they now serve mediocre food partnered with so so service”

Entings of Sagay (Lacson Street, Bacolod)

My memory of Entings go way back. This was where my friend Kris brought us for merienda several years ago. I ordered Halo-Halo only.

When we arrived at Entings there was nobody there. There were no Diners at all. When our food arrived i realized why there were no Diners, the food was mediocre. There was nothing special about the Food at Entings’s that will make you go back.

The Kansi was very bland. It had no taste of Batuan at all. The Sisig was average plus there were so many small bone fragments included that eating it was such an ordeal. The only redeeming thing at Enting’s was the service. But we were the only diners and for them not to give good service was just not right.

Resto Grill sa BayBay (Bacolod, Negros)

This is the only Restaurant in Bacolod which is by the Sea. It is located at the BREDCO Port. For lunch we had the following, Kilawin Tanigue, Pork Sisig, Chickek Binakol, Steamed Shrimp, Chili Garlic Shrimp and Steamed Shrimp, and Special Halo Halo.
The Chicken Binakol was served in a Buko Shell. It was good. The chicken was tender, but there is a Chicken Binakol better than this.
The Kilawin Tanigue had a weird orange color! First time to see Kilawin with this color. Maybe they added atsuete. I still cannot understand why they like to add salted egg to kilawin in Bacolod. The Fish used was fresh, but it lacked spiciness which i look for in Kilawin. Plus it was not as sour as other kilawin i tasted.
The Chili Garlic shrimp did not taste like it had any Garlic! and there was no spiciness at all. Made me wonder why they called it Chili Garlic Shrimp. It tasted just like hilabos. The shrimp was fresh though. Nothing to rave about.
Another shrimp dish. Like the Chili Garlic Shrimp. There is nothing to rave about this dish also.
And again, another Shrimp Dish.
This is one Sisig which i will never order again. It was very oily plus it had a weird taste which i cannot determine. A disappointment for me.
Their Special Halo Halo isnt anything Special. It just taste like any other Halo Halo.
