Where to Eat-Metro Manila

Kaka at Megamall (Mandaluyong)

Yesterday we went to Megamall. The first Restaurant that i saw was Kaka. Kaka is located at the 4th level Bridgeway.

After being shown to a table we were given the Menu. Kaka specializes in Filipino food. I ordered their Pork Sisig, Hito with Buro, Rice and Kaka Kooler. Our order was repeated by the order taker.

After waiting for what probably was 10-15 minutes the hito with buro was served.

The Hito was fried perfectly. It was delicious. The accompanying buro was very good too. The hito was almost finished and the sisig was still no where in sight. It was served when the Hito was already finished. I was wondering what was taking soooo long for it to be served given that Sisig is basically cooked already and was just put on a sizzling plate and then topped with an egg. Anyway the wait was not worth it as the Sisig failed to impress me. It was the wet type and there was so few onions mixed in. The serving was not that much too and the price was not commensurate to it.

The kaka kooler failed to arrive the reason behind it would remain a mystery. There were not that many diners so saying they were Busy is not acceptanle. It was still included in the bill do i pointed to the Manager who gave me the bill that the Kaka Kooler never arrived. She looked at the Table, probably looking for the Kaka Kooler and went back to the Cashier. A few minutes she went back saying sorry for the mistake.

Kaka needs to improve their sisig, a complete Overhaul is in order but their Hito is perfect as it is. Their service needs improvement too.

Mang Caloy’s Lechon Cebu (Robinsons Magnolia, Quezon City)

The other day we went to Robinsons Magnolia. We had lunch at Mang Caloy’s Lechon Cebu which is located at the Food Court of Robinsons.

I ordered the Lechon Rice for P167. This included lechon veggies & a drink.

The lechon was not as tasty as the usual lechon cebu. It was ordinary tasting but the skin was very crispy. The veggetables included was so few that a few scoops it was finished and it was not what should be partnered with lechon. Mang Caloy’s needs to make their lechon tastier, more like LECHON CEBU and it is not Lechon Cebu if it comes with Sauce.

Cecile’s Restaurant (Las Pinas City)

We ate here on our way to BIR Las Pinas. We were supposed to eat at Robinsons but my sister said she saw a Restaurant that we passed by.

They have very limited parking at Cecile’s. Inside it is dark. Going to the toilet is also dark. There were no di ers when we arrived. We just ordered their Value Meals. We got the Sizzling Chicken (105) and Pork Chop (105).

The meal came with soup. The meal was loaded with vegetables. It was quite good too.

Singlish Cafe’s Char Kway Teoh: Best in Town

I am not a fan of Pancit. More so of the thick noodle variety. But Singlish Cafe’s Char Kway Teow is an exception.

I really enjoyed their Char Kway Teow yesterday that the plate was wiped out. It was really delicious and will definitely go back again.

Singlish Cafe is located in Concepcion Dos. Near the Gate of Rancho Estate.

Cafe Juanita (Kapitolyo Pasig)

The last time i ate here was Ages ago. They were still located at their old location. This time we just ordered take out.

I was eager to sample their Kare Kare again which i really enjoyed.

The Kare Kare of Juanita has gotten good reviews. It is good though, but somehow it isn’t the same like before. The bagoong has changed, before it was a super fine type of bagoong.

The Cat Fish salad was good but not outstanding.

The ginger chicken was average. No reason for it to be ordered again.

The Leche Flan was a winner though. Deliciously creamy and just the right amount of sweetness.

Has Cafe Juanita’s food quality changed with their Expansion? Judging with the Kare Kare it probably has. Though dining in maybe a different matter.

Food Trip: Sunday Lunch at Bangus Greenhills

For Sunday Lunch we went to one of our reliable Restaurants for good food, Bangus in Greenhills (the greenhills branch has better tasting food than the MegaMall branch).

We ordered their Sinigang Sa Prime Cut, Fried Tilapia with Crispy Kangkong in Tamarind Sauce and Crispy Tadyang.

The food at Bangus has not changed at all. The quality is the same. Food delicious as usual.

Food Trip: The Chicken Rice Shop (CCP Manila)

The Chicken Rice Shop belongs to the Group that owns Pancake House and Dencio’s. the first time we got to taste the food here was at their Katipunan Branch (it is now closed though).

After our Check Up with Dr Tan we went here for our Lunch.

We ordered their Set Menu which consisted of a Small Platter of Rice, quarter portion of Roast Chicken, soup and a vegetable dish. We also ordered their baked chicken rice plate and ais cendol. Our bill totalled 711.00 Pesos.

There was nothing left afterwards, even the rice we thought was big was wiped out.
